What is Food Freedom
As part of my work as a dietitian, I help people find & live in food freedom. It sounds lofty & maybe fake but I assure you- it's real. And I promise you it's worth your time and attention.
So, what is that? What does that mean? How do I do that? How is that different than intuitive eating?
Food freedom is giving yourself freedom to have food, to eat, to nourish your body. Food freedom is also having foods or wanting foods and eating without guilt or negative connection. Food freedom is releasing using food to cope with an emotion or using food to provide a particular emotion. Basically, it's feeling free around food. Food thoughts aren't overwhelming you all day and dictating your life. Sounds good, right?
So how do we do that? The next time you're eating or get hungry, start here:
These are steps we can use to start living in food freedom, normalize hunger, normalize food, tune into our hunger, and adequately nourish our bodies. Finding food freedom is not the same as intuitive eating but is a big part of intuitive eating. Intuitive eating leads us into food freedom and practicing food freedom allows us to eat intuitively. Both take time but are 100% real and possible for you.
