Greensboro, NC Travel Guide
Hi! May is wedding month and one of my favorite parts about this season has been frequently returning to my hometown – Greensboro, North Carolina. This has been especially true since moving to a new, bigger, and busier city- Washington, DC. I want to share more about who I am, where I come from, and where my sweet almost marriage began by sharing some of my favorite parts of Greensboro (and the surrounding communities) with you. I’ll probably even have to keep adding on to this because Greensboro is up and coming!
ACTIVITIES
BICENTENNIAL GARDEN
1105 Hobbs Road
Greensboro, NC 27410
I just really love gardens and parks and the great outdoors, so this is a sweet spot for a stroll.
BOXCAR BAR + ARCADE
120 West Lewis Street
Greensboro, NC 27406
Great for 20-somethings' night out! This is an adult arcade with all of the (g)oldie games, like Pacman, + beer.
CENTER CITY PARK
200 North Elm Street
Greensboro, NC 27401
Over the summer, Greensboro Downtown Yoga hosts a free weekly community yoga class in the park!
GREENSBORO FARMERS CURB MARKET
501 Yanceyville Street
Greensboro, NC 27405
Perfect for a leisurely Saturday morning! You know I’m all about supporting the local community & this market has plenty to offer. From kimchi to Scottish cookies- they have it all HOMEMADE.
GREENSBORO GRASSHOPPERS BASEBALL GAME
408 Bellemeade Street
Greensboro, NC 27401
It's not the big leagues, but Grasshoppers games are fun. I also recently went to my first game at Nationals Park and I'm not ashamed to say the Grasshoppers have better food. I recommend the black bean burger + a beer.
INTERNATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS CENTER & MUSEUM
134 S Elm Street
Greensboro, NC 27401
There's some history in Greensboro and the Civil Rights Center & Museum is so thoughtfully crafted.
KAYAKING
Lake Brandt
5945 Lake Brandt Road
Greensboro, NC 27455
Lake Higgins
4235 Hamburg Mill Road
Summerfield, NC 27358
I have only been kayaking at Lake Brandt but I've also heard Lake Higgins is pretty good. Lake Brant is definitely closer though! This is a leisurely kayak trip just for going with the flow.
LAWNDALE/NATURAL SCIENCE CENTER
4301 Lawndale Drive
Greensboro, NC 27455
I'm a huge fan of the science center. They have great seasonal exhibits; my favorite has been the Human Bodies exhibit that showed the intricacies of the human body via wax figures (that looked too real.)
I’ve been to quite a few parks and I must say the NC Zoo is BOMB. The zoo is probably my favorite- it's just a magical place. My favorite part is a deck to feed giraffes. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Greensboro but is so worth it!
NORTHEAST PARK
Northeast Park Drive
Gibsonville, NC 27249
This park is a little out there from Greensboro, but this is where me and my sweet thang spent a lot of time together in high school. We’d go for random picnics and walks through the trails, hang out on rocks in the creek (we're those people), all that simple nature-lover stuff! Also they have pretty fun fireworks for the 4th of July.
WET’N WILD EMERALD POINTE WATER PARK
3910 S Holden Road
Greensboro, NC 27406
I grew up spending my entire summer slippin’ down the water slides at this water park! It almost seems cliché to recommend, but I won’t lie- it’s pretty fun.
BREWERIES
BROWN TRUCK BREWERY
1234 North Main Street
High Point, NC 27262
Not too far from Greensboro and pretty delicious beer! They also have a great patio set up.
This is our absolute favorite! There’s also a location in Winston Salem but Greensboro is the original and is way more fun in my opinion. If you love doggies, I’m sure you’ll find some here! They also have food trucks! And most importantly, their beer honestly never disappoints.

345 South Elm Street
Greensboro, NC 27401
They have both- good food and good beer + they’re downtown + $2.50 pints every day!
This one is about 45 minutes from Greensboro but SO WORTH IT! If you go Alamance crossing- you have to go to Press. They have the best crepes and they sell Counter Culture coffee- my favorite coffee!!
Print works is attached to Proximity Hotel and has a plant lover’s dream outdoor patio. Highly recommend sitting among the plants with a mimosa. Honestly, it's really just worth it for the ambiance of the patio.

If you drive out to the zoo, which why would you not, you gotta stop by The Table for lunch! They’re all things I love- eatery, bakery, market, fresh ingredients, and Counter Culture coffee. HELLOOOO. The Table on Elm coffee shop in Greensboro is their second location but it’s just a coffee shop!
US SUSHI
619 Friendly Center Road
Greensboro, NC 27408
Yeah, it's a chain. But I don't think I've found better sushi in Greensboro. If you find something better LMK. US Sushi is pretty darn tasty though!

SPIRITUAL
MERCY HILL CHURCH
3815 Clifton Road
Greensboro, NC 27407
I saved the best for last. Mercy Hill now has 4 locations (Hallelujah!) but Zack and I went to the Clifton Road campus and loved it so much! If you’re in town and love Jesus, Mercy Hill (any campus) is a great place to worship!
